From Baltimore to Better Care-Advancing Women’s Health Innovation

March 3, 2026

At this month’s MIX, we explored how Baltimore can translate the region’s strengths into better care and outcomes for women.

Speakers highlighted the many dimensions of women’s health, from maternal care and reproductive health to breast cancer detection, community-based care models, and the broader policy and funding landscape shaping the field. A common thread throughout the evening was that advancing women’s health requires more than new technologies. It also means improving access, designing care that reflects women’s lived experiences, and building stronger connections between research, entrepreneurship, policy, and community voice.

Audience reflections echoed these themes. Participants pointed to the importance of collaboration, partnerships, funding, and stronger feedback loops between institutions and the communities they serve. Many also emphasized the need for more open conversations about women’s health and greater trust across the system.

Baltimore already has many of the ingredients needed to lead in this space — world-class research institutions, growing health-tech companies, active community organizations, and committed advocates. The opportunity now is to connect those efforts more intentionally and continue building an ecosystem that turns discovery into real improvements in care.
